SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS

DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS:  During the summer we swim dual meets with other teams in our division.  (There are several divisions in the summer league.)  At the end of the regular dual meet season, we attend Divisional Championships.  This is when each team in our division comes to one meet to compete together at the same time.  ALL SWIMMERS ON THE TEAM who have competed in at least three regular dual meets are permitted to compete in divisional championships.

ALL-STAR CHAMPIONSHIPS:  After the Divisional meet, the top finishers from each division (remember, there are several divisions in the league) are chosen to advance to All-Star championships.  Typically, you will not find out if your child has made All-Stars until the evening before the meet.  This is because all of the coaches attend a meeting after their Divisional meet, where the results of each division are placed into a computer, and the top qualifiers are determined.  All-Stars are held the day after Divisionals.  If you know your child will not be able to attend even if he or she qualifies, you must let the coach know before he or she attends this meeting.

MID-CAP CHAMPIONSHIPS:  Similarly to the All-Star selection process, the top qualifiers from the All-Star meet are selected to move on to Mid-Cap championships the following weekend.  Again, if you know your child will not be able to attend, please let the coac know before he or she attends the qualifying meeting.

YMCA NATIONALS:  Any swimmer who swims a YMCA National qualifying time may attend the YMCA National meet at the end of the summer.
